Over Great Wind Sounds Of Trumpets
Inspiring you and touching you in an old gospel way, with a new traditional praise is "Great Wind Sounds of Trumpets". Originally formed in 1990, in New Britain, CT., Make no mistake, these men have each been to hell and back before they devoted their lives to Christ. GWSOT has made an impression from the very beginning amongst their peers by presenting all original material and delivering not with form or fashion, but strictly through spiritual experience. Their homegrown, independent label, CNI Records-'Home of Grandma's Gospel'™ has produced several unreleased recordings over the years.
Today they have a new project released through Tate Music Group, entitled, "More Than A Conqueror". As such, they are the 2010 winners of the 5th Annual Holla Back Video- Gospel Awards in New Haven, CT for Best Traditional Male Group. Also, Great Wind Sounds Of Trumpets is a 2011 Rhythm Of Gospel Award nominee for *Quartet CD Of The Year and *Quartet Song Of The Year. The Rhythm Of Gospel Awards is recognized as one of the Top Five Gospel music award ceremonies in the nation for independent Artists.
GWSOT is celebrating 20 years of traveling the highways, from church to church and has shared the microphone with many popular headliners. In a recent appearance on the "Bobby Jones Gospel Hour," Dr. Jones inquired," Why haven't I heard of you before?" "God had not sent us, but we're here now," was the reply.
A reporter once wrote, “The gathering was so moved by the soul-stirring performance of lead singer, Carol Martin, who took them through a variety of Gospel renditions, most of his own creations, that they could not resist joining in by clapping their hands, rocking in their chairs and getting up on the floor to move into an impromptu dance. He twisted his voice in a variety of ranges as he delivered each song, which mesmerized the audience…” –Stan Walker, The West Indian American newspaper, Dec. 2003.
