Being Single...
Current mood: hopeful
Category: Life
I count it as a blessing to be single! I have no kids and I am realistically only responsible for myself. Ya sista cleans for 1, cooks for 1 and has a gang of time to spend with the Lord and serving in the Kingdom. Although I desire a family, the Lord is teaching me to be thankful for the positive things that come with being single and not focus on what I don't have. When the time is right, the Lord will send someone special my way and together we will give God even MORE GLORY!!!
Here are 10 questions for all my single sistas and brothas.
If you desire marriage - ask yourself:
1. Have I put God #1 in my life?
2. Am I living holy before the Lord? (Confessing sins on a daily)
3. What is my reason for marriage? Does it come from my lustful desire?
4. Am I happy with myself internally?
5. Is the person I'm interested in being used as a crutch for loneliness?
6. IS the person I'm interested showing fruit of being a disciple of Jesus?
7. Do I have other issues that need to be dealt with first?
8. Am I ready to take on a new life and sacrifice time and finances?
9. Am I mature enough to accept marriage as a gift even if it doesn't come in pretty wrapping?
10. Am I mature enough to have Godly standards for my mate instead of a list of expectations and earthly values?
It can be challenging to be single and also a blessing. I have to cling to the word of God so that I am not lured into traps set by the enemy and it is a constant war within my flesh to be holy. Is it possible to stay away from all forms of sexual immorality while waiting on a mate for marriage that is planned in God's perfect timing? Yes.
There are several ways the enemy can keep you sexually immoral which I believe will prolong God's blessing in your life for a husband or wife. Here's the Top 4 I came up with. If there's more.. feel free to add to it.
- Sex before marriage
- All forms of Pornography
- Masturbation
- Rushing into marriage to fulfill your sexual needs
All these things are damaging to your relationship with the Most High.
Remember who we serve. We serve a Holy God. And although he understands our need for companionship...he expects us to live holy and pure.
